The Knowes
Fair Knowes
Ye fair knowes o' grand open land,
Are ye weary o' so many lambs,
And rough reivers learning to shear
Down in the dale nearing the creek.
The border hands now assist in pasture.
O'er the knowes, along the rathad,
Soon'll ride with metal to greet the parcel,
Soon the slaighre'll greet the rogues.
Herders and reivers'll ride the slighe,
Traversing braes obscure in heather,
Approach the plat where lies the parcel,
Greet the baile with sound method.
We'll rest on the banks west of the burgh.
Water the Clydes, tie down the gibbet,
Pass the waucht, check the stirrups.
Ride for the glen, becoming moonlit.
Now we study the big parcel place,
A grey caisteal in the boglach.
The partaidh shall proceed apace,
The rogueish abode shall be a carn o' clach.
Thank ye Claymore for clearing the doors,
Good boglach for storing the red parcel parts.
Taing the lochan for cooling the horses,
Praise the knowes for full lamb support.
